Living in Wellesley Township

Four villages and Paradise Lake in the farm country north-west of Waterloo

Wellesley Township brings together the village of Wellesley, St. Clements, Linwood, Crosshill and the lake community of Paradise Lake, with farmland, woodlots and small hamlets between them. Wellesley Village gathers at its pond and holds the Apple Butter and Cheese Festival every September. St. Clements is anchored by its historic parish church, finished in 1858, Linwood sits on the Kissing Bridge Trailway, and Crosshill holds the Township's Council Chambers of 1855. Housing runs from nineteenth-century farmhouses and village homes to mid-century bungalows and homes built since 2000 in Wellesley Village, where more than half of the homes are newer than 2000.

Work here

Farms across the township, the Jones feed mill in Linwood, Wellesley Apple Products and the shops of Wellesley Village, and the employers of Kitchener and Waterloo, about 15 to 25 km away by road.

Get around

Nafziger Road south to Highway 7/8, Lobsinger Line east through St. Clements and Heidelberg to Waterloo, Ament Line and Hawkesville Road from Linwood to Highway 85, and the Kissing Bridge Trailway across the north of the township. Grand River Transit does not yet serve the township; the Region has consulted on a route along Regional Road 5 and Lobsinger Line.

Weekends

The pond at the Albert Erb Conservation Area and the ErbHaven Trails in Wellesley Village, the Township of Wellesley Recreation Complex, the arenas in Wellesley Village and St. Clements, the Apple Butter and Cheese Festival and the Wellesley Fall Fair in September, and the Linwood Elvis Festival in August.

Schools

The Waterloo Region District School Board runs Wellesley Public School and Linwood Public School, both JK to Grade 8. Students from Wellesley Village and the south of the township go on to Waterloo-Oxford District Secondary School in Baden, and those from St. Clements, Linwood and the north go on to Elmira District Secondary School. The Waterloo Catholic District School Board runs St. Clement Catholic Elementary School in St. Clements, whose students go on to St. David Catholic Secondary School in Waterloo. The public board's township French immersion programs are in Baden, Breslau and Elmira.

“We can't say enough great things about Dave Maund and his team. They helped us through the very emotional sale of our home of 30 years with support and consideration. I would recommend them whole heartedly every time.”
