Living in Mapleton

Three villages and the farm country of the upper Conestogo

The Township of Mapleton takes in Drayton, Moorefield and Alma, with farm country, Conestogo Lake and the hamlets of Rothsay, Glen Allan, Hollen, Lebanon, Yatton and Wallenstein around them. Drayton is the largest village and home of the Drayton Festival Theatre in its opera house of 1902. Moorefield sits in the west of the township, and Alma on the old Elora Saugeen Road in the east. Housing runs from older farmhouses and village homes to Drayton's newer streets, where about four in ten homes were built in 2001 or later. The 2021 census counted about 3,630 homes in the township, nearly nine in ten of them single detached houses.

Work here

Get around

Schools

Mapleton is served by the Upper Grand District School Board and the Wellington Catholic District School Board. Drayton Heights Public School, Maryborough Public School in Moorefield and Alma Public School are the public elementary schools, and most students go on to Norwell District Secondary School in Palmerston, with Alma's going to Centre Wellington District High School in Fergus. French immersion is at Palmerston Public School and Norwell, and in Fergus for Alma. St. John Catholic School in Arthur is the Catholic elementary school for most of the township, and St. James Catholic High School in Guelph its secondary school.

★★★★★
“Dave was a calm, confident presence through the process of buying and selling that we needed to do in an unexpected hurry. He helped us to take things one step and a time and was patient when we became anxious about the process. We recommended him to my parents and he was the same with them. Wouldn’t choose anyone else!”
