St. Marys: St. Marys, on the Thames.
Victorian limestone buildings line the main street, the old quarry is now one of Canada's largest outdoor swimming pools, and the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame sits by the river. It's a beautiful town to call home.

The Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame
The Hall of Fame moved to St. Marys from Toronto in 1994 and opened in 1998. Its museum holds thousands of artifacts, including Fergie Jenkins and Larry Walker memorabilia, and its four ballfields host more than 900 events a year.
The Town Hall and the library
The spired Town Hall was completed in 1891, and its theatre hosts shows and events. Beside it, the limestone library was built in 1904 and 1905 with a $10,000 grant from Andrew Carnegie.
The Opera House
The Opera House, built in 1880, is one of the many 19th-century stone buildings that still stand downtown, along with churches, shops and houses.
Downtown, the river and the south end.
St. Marys grew where Trout Creek meets the Thames, with downtown at the junction and the Quarry and the Hall of Fame to the south.

Downtown
Downtown St. Marys, around the Town Hall at 175 Queen Street East, keeps many of its 19th-century limestone commercial blocks. The St. Marys Farmers' Market meets at Milt Dunnell Field by the river on Saturday mornings.
The river
The Riverview Walkway, 2.4 km, follows the Thames south from the middle of downtown, and the Grand Trunk Trail, 3.2 km, crosses the river on the restored Sarnia Bridge.
The south end
The St. Marys Quarry, the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame and the Pyramid Recreation Centre on James Street South are all in the south of town.
The Quarry, the trails and the rinks.

The Quarry
The two former limestone quarries in the south of town filled with water between 1930 and 1935, and the town bought them with 50 acres of land around them in 1945. One is now an outdoor swimming pool, open in summer, which the Town calls Canada's largest natural swimming pool.
The Grand Trunk Trail
The Grand Trunk Trail, opened in 1998, follows about 3.2 km of the old Grand Trunk line, and its walk over the restored Sarnia Bridge gives views south over the town. In 2012 the bridge's reuse was inducted into the North America Railway Hall of Fame.
The Pyramid Recreation Centre
The Pyramid at 317 James Street South has the aquatics centre, two ice pads, adult and youth centres and a community hall, and the St. Marys Lincolns Junior B hockey team plays here.
Cadzow Park and the museum
Cadzow Park has a playground, a stage, a pavilion and a splash pad, and the St. Marys Museum and Archives is in the park, in a large limestone house built for the Tracy family.

History
In 1839 the Canada Company sent a surveyor to choose a town site on the Thames in Blanshard Township. Thomas Ingersoll, a brother of Laura Secord, built a sawmill and a grist mill at the Little Falls of the Thames in 1841 to 1843, and the mills formed the core of the settlement, which was laid out in 1844. The Grand Trunk Railway arrived in the late 1850s, St. Marys became a village in 1854 and a town in 1864, and limestone quarried close to the surface built its churches, shops and houses. St. Marys has kept its own council and was never part of Perth County's government.
