Avon West, Stratford

Out along Huron Street, where the city finally exhales: newer homes with farmland over the back fence and the Avon's quietest stretch close by. Evening light lasts longer out here, nothing tall enough to get in its way.

The 2021 census counts about 550 homes in Avon West. About half are single detached houses, and about a third are apartments in buildings under five storeys. About half were built in 2001 or later. The City's street records date Avon West's local streets, including Vanevery Way and Dannecker Road in Jenann Estates, to between 2002 and 2021.

Stratford Transit's 1 Huron route serves Avon West. The transit terminal downtown is about 2.4 km away, and Stratford General Hospital about 1.2 km. Huron Street (Highway 8), O'Loane Avenue, Sir Adam Beck Road and John Street North are the main streets.

Bromberg Park is the neighbourhood park, and Avondale Cemetery covers about 46 hectares. The Stratford Perth Museum, on Huron Street, is about 1.3 km away.
