Romeo Ward, Stratford

Stratford's practical east side: the Romeo corridor starts at Ontario Street and runs south through streets that work for a living. Shops at one end, open country at the other, and nothing in town more than a few minutes away.

The 2021 census counts about 2,600 homes in Romeo Ward. Just under half are single detached houses, about one in five are apartments in buildings under five storeys, and about one in ten are apartments in a duplex. Almost six in ten were built in 1960 or earlier, and about one in ten between 2016 and 2021.

Stratford Transit's 2 East End, 5 Devon, 6 Downie and 7 Industrial routes serve Romeo Ward. The VIA Rail station is about 0.7 km away. Ontario Street (Highway 7), Romeo Street South, Downie Street and Lorne Avenue East are the main streets.

Anne Hathaway Park, at about 3 hectares, has a splash pad, and the Stratford Municipal Golf Course is nearby. Milton Street Park and Oxford Street Park are neighbourhood parks, and the Downie and Norfolk baseball diamonds are in the ward too.

• Romeo Public School — JK to Grade 6. The public school for the western streets, including Douro Street and Rebecca Street.
• Anne Hathaway Public School — JK to Grade 6. The public school for the eastern streets, including Taylor Street and Lorne Avenue East, and the French immersion school for all of Romeo Ward.
• Stratford Intermediate School — Grades 7 and 8. The public middle school, on St. Andrew Street, with French immersion.
• Stratford District Secondary School — Grades 9 to 12. The public secondary school, on Forman Avenue, with French immersion.
• St. Ambrose Catholic School — JK to Grade 8. The Catholic elementary school for Romeo Ward.
• Jeanne Sauvé Catholic School — JK to Grade 8. The Catholic French immersion school, on Grange Street, with immersion from Junior Kindergarten.
• St. Michael Catholic Secondary School — Grades 9 to 12. The Catholic secondary school, on Oakdale Avenue.
