Mitchell on the Thames and the farm country around it
West Perth takes in the town of Mitchell and the farms, villages and hamlets of the old Logan, Hibbert and Fullarton townships, with Dublin and Staffa to the west. Mitchell sits where Highway 8 meets Highway 23, and the Thames River runs through the middle of town, with more than 10 km of nature trail along its valley. Housing runs from older farmhouses across the countryside, where nearly six in ten homes were built in 1960 or earlier, to Mitchell's newer streets. The 2021 census counted about 3,570 homes in West Perth.

The shops and services of Mitchell, the town's dairy and manufacturing employers, the farms across the municipality, and the employers of Stratford, about 21 km from Mitchell by road.
Get around
Highway 8 from Stratford through Mitchell and Dublin toward Seaforth, Highway 23 north toward Listowel and south toward London, and PC Connect's Routes A and B through Mitchell, Monday to Saturday.
Weekends
The Mitchell Fall Fair at the end of summer, the splash pad, pool and animal park in Mitchell Lions Park, kayaking on the Thames, the West Perth Thames Nature Trail and the wetlands, and the woodland loops of the Sawyer Preservation Lot and the Fullarton Conservation Trail.
Schools
West Perth is served by the Avon Maitland District School Board and the Huron-Perth Catholic District School Board. Upper Thames Elementary School and Mitchell District High School, both on Frances Street East in Mitchell, serve the whole municipality from JK to Grade 12. Most Catholic students attend St. Patrick's in Dublin to Grade 2 and St. Columban School to Grade 8, others attend Holy Name of Mary in St. Marys or St. Patrick's in Kinkora, and St. Michael in Stratford is the Catholic secondary school.
