Established east-end streets centred on a community centre, near Fairview.
What it's like
On hot days in Centreville, the splash pad at the Centreville Chicopee Community Centre on Morgan Avenue rings with laughter. A few blocks away, the shady paths of Morgan Park and Hofstetter Park offer a slower pace. To the east, the slopes of the Chicopee ski hill rise over the Grand River lands of Chicopee Park, white in winter and green in summer. When it is time to run errands or head downtown, Fairview Park Mall and the Fairway ION station are each about a kilometre away.
The homes
Centreville forms part of the City's Centreville Chicopee planning community. The City's 2021 estimates count about 4,100 homes there. About a third are single detached houses and about a quarter are row houses. Apartment buildings under five storeys make up about one in six, and semi-detached houses about one in ten. In the 2021 census, nearly half the homes in the surrounding area were built between 1961 and 1980, and about a quarter between 1981 and 2000.
Getting around
Fairway ION station, the southern end of the light rail line, is about 1 km away. Fairway has a park-and-ride lot and is the end point for many Grand River Transit bus routes. Highway 8 has an interchange at Fairway Road and Weber Street. Fairview Park Mall, at 3050 Kingsway Drive, is about 0.7 km away. The mall opened in 1966.
Parks and daily life
