Doon South, Kitchener

In Doon South, many streets end at a trail. Step off the pavement and you are under the trees of Topper Woods or following the creek through the Doon Creek Natural Area, with the crunch of gravel underfoot. Climb Pinnacle Hill and the new neighbourhood spreads out below. After the first snowfall, sledders gather at the toboggan hill in Windrush Park. Fresh streets such as Blair Creek Drive and Robert Ferrie Drive lead to new parks, including Dodge Park and Doon South Park.

The City's 2021 estimates count about 3,400 homes in the Doon South planning community. Nearly nine in ten are single detached houses, and row houses make up most of the rest. In the 2021 census, more than nine in ten homes in the surrounding area were built after 2001, and about half between 2016 and 2021.

Grand River Transit's 36 Thomas Slee route runs between Conestoga College and Robert Ferrie Drive at Forest Creek Drive. Highway 401 has an interchange at Homer Watson Boulevard. Fairway ION station is about 5.1 km away. Fairview Park Mall is about 5.3 km away.

Windrush Park, at 155 Windrush Trail, covers about 4.9 hectares and has a toboggan hill. Dodge Park and Doon South Park are on Blair Creek Drive, and Thomas Slee Park is on Thomas Slee Drive. The Pinnacle Hill Natural Area, on Homer Watson Boulevard, covers about 12 hectares. Topper Woods, at 404 Doon South Drive, covers about 5.8 hectares. The Doon Creek Natural Area covers about 14 hectares. Tilt's Trail, the Sussex Greenway and a hydro corridor trail link parts of the neighbourhood. Marigold Park is on Robert Ferrie Drive. The Doon Pioneer Park Community Centre, its splash pad and the Pioneer Park Library are about 2 km away. Homer Watson House and Gallery is about 2.2 km away.
