Beechwood Forest, Kitchener

Beechwood Forest is a neighbourhood of trees. At the end of the street a path leads into Monarch Woods, where light comes down through the canopy and the traffic on Fischer-Hallman Road fades to nothing. Along the Henry Sturm Greenway and through Lynnvalley Park, the only sounds are footsteps on the trail and birds overhead. At Northforest Park, a playground sits among the greenery. Just to the east, the fairways of the Westmount Golf and Country Club roll across the hills.

Beechwood Forest forms part of the City's Highland West planning community. The City's 2021 estimates count about 4,200 homes there. About three in five are single detached houses. Row houses and semi-detached houses make up most of the rest, along with some low-rise apartment buildings. In the 2021 census, about half the homes in the surrounding area were built between 1981 and 2000, and about half after 2001.

The nearest ION station is Grand River Hospital, about 3 km away. Fischer-Hallman Road runs along the east side of Monarch Woods. Grand River Transit's 201 Fischer-Hallman iXpress runs along Fischer-Hallman Road. The Boardwalk shopping centre is about 1.7 km away. Highland Hills Mall, at 875 Highland Road West, is about 1.9 km away.

Monarch Woods Park is a wooded natural area with trails. Lynnvalley Park covers about 10 hectares of open space, trail and woodland. Resurrection Park, at 71 Resurrection Drive, has a natural area along the Henry Sturm Greenway. Northforest Park, at 90 Northforest Trail, has a play area. The Victoria Hills Community Centre is about 1.6 km away. The Forest Heights Library and the indoor pool at Forest Heights Collegiate Institute are about 2.4 km away. The Boardwalk's shops and restaurants are a short drive west.

• Centennial Public School (Waterloo) — Grades 7 and 8. The middle school for the area.
• Kitchener-Waterloo Collegiate and Vocational School — Grades 9 to 12. The public secondary school, with French immersion and extended French.
• St. Dominic Savio Catholic School — JK to Grade 8. The nearest Catholic elementary school.
• Resurrection Catholic Secondary School — Grades 9 to 12. A Catholic secondary school on University Avenue West, close to the neighbourhood.
