Clairfields, Guelph

Newer builds at Gordon and Clair with the south end's shops and restaurants at the corner, the neighbourhood where the errand run takes five minutes and the rest of Saturday is yours.

The 2021 census counted about 1,400 homes in the census areas centred in Clairfields. About two in three are single detached houses, and row houses make up about one in four. About six in ten homes were built between 2001 and 2010, and about one in five between 1991 and 2000.

Guelph Transit's 5 Goodwin, 16 Southgate, 19 Hanlon Creek and 99 Mainline routes serve the neighbourhood, with the 56U Colonial during the university year. The 99 Mainline runs north on Gordon Street to the University Centre and downtown. Gordon Street, Clair Road and Laird Road are the main streets, and the Hanlon Expressway on the west side leads south to Highway 401.

South End Community Park, on Poppy Drive, covers about 15.6 hectares, with a playground, soccer fields, a ball diamond, basketball and tennis courts and a splash pad. Beside it, the South End Community Centre at 25 Poppy Drive West is expected to open in fall 2026, with a lap pool, a leisure pool, two ice pads, a double gymnasium and an indoor walking track. Gosling Gardens Park and Lewis Farm Park have playgrounds. The Westminster Square branch of the Guelph Public Library is about 1.4 km away.

• St. Ignatius of Loyola Catholic School — JK to Grade 8. The Catholic elementary school, on Colonial Drive.
• Bishop Macdonell Catholic High School — Grades 9 to 12. The Catholic secondary school, in the neighbourhood.
