Parkwood Gardens, Guelph

The far west end's comfortable stalwart: settled streets from the eighties and nineties, Springdale Park around the corner, and everything the west side offers just minutes away.

The 2021 census counted about 3,600 homes in Parkwood Gardens. Six in ten are single detached houses, and row houses make up about one in seven. About half of the homes were built between 1981 and 2000, about one in six between 1961 and 1980, and about one in six between 2016 and 2021.

Guelph Transit's 9 Waterloo, 10 Paisley, 15 College, 17 Woodlawn Watson and 18 Watson Woodlawn routes serve the neighbourhood. Guelph Central Station is about 3.6 km away. Paisley Road, Elmira Road South, Imperial Road South and Wellington Street West are the main streets, and the Hanlon Expressway runs along the east side.

The West End Community Centre, at 21 Imperial Road South, is in the neighbourhood. Castlebury Park, the largest at about 3.7 hectares, has a playground, a soccer field and a basketball court. Deerpath Park and Springdale Park have playgrounds and soccer fields, and Stephanie Drive Park has a playground and a community garden.

• John F. Ross Collegiate Vocational Institute — Grades 9 to 12. The public secondary school for French immersion students.
• St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School — JK to Grade 8. The Catholic elementary school, in the neighbourhood.
• Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic High School — Grades 9 to 12. The Catholic secondary school, on Westmount Road.
