St. George's Park, Guelph

Winding streets climb the hill east of downtown, past stately old homes under trees that were here first. Quietly grand, and entirely unhurried about it, with its namesake park at the heart.

The 2021 census counted about 2,300 homes in St. George's Park. About two in three are single detached houses, and about one in six are in apartment buildings under five storeys. Over six in ten homes were built in 1960 or earlier, and about a quarter between 1961 and 1980.

Guelph Transit's 12 Delhi, 13 Eastview, 14 Grange, 17 Woodlawn Watson and 18 Watson Woodlawn routes serve the neighbourhood. Guelph Central Station is about 1.5 km away. Eramosa Road, Stevenson Street and Victoria Road are the main streets.

St. George's Park, at 40 Metcalfe Street, has a playground, a basketball court, tennis courts and a community garden. Franchetto Park, the largest at about 3.7 hectares, and Green Meadows Park have playgrounds and soccer fields. The Bullfrog Mall branch of the Guelph Public Library and the Victoria Road Recreation Centre are each about 0.8 km away.

• King George Public School — JK to Grade 8. The public French immersion school.
• Holy Rosary Catholic School — JK to Grade 8. The Catholic elementary school for these streets, on Stevenson Street North.
• Sacred Heart Catholic School — JK to Grade 8. The board offers Sacred Heart to these streets for the International Baccalaureate program, with Holy Rosary as the other choice.
• St. John Catholic School — JK to Grade 8. The Catholic elementary school for the eastern streets, including Delmar Boulevard.
• St. James Catholic High School — Grades 9 to 12. The Catholic secondary school, on Victoria Road North.
