Rickson Ridge, Guelph

A tucked-away pocket near Gordon and Harts Lane, with the creek close by and Preservation Park's woods holding down the corner. The kind of place people arrive at and stay. Nearby, established streets off Kortright where the bike routes seem to outnumber the stoplights: Hartsland Park close by, the creek not far, and the whole south end ten minutes away.

The 2021 census counted about 1,500 homes in Rickson Ridge. About two in five are single detached houses and about two in five are row houses, and apartment buildings under five storeys make up about one in ten. About a third of the homes were built between 1991 and 2000, a quarter between 2001 and 2005, and about a third between 2006 and 2021.

Guelph Transit's 1 Edinburgh College, 2 College Edinburgh, 5 Goodwin, 7 Niska and 99 Mainline routes serve the neighbourhood, with the 52U, 56U and 58U university routes during the school year. Edinburgh Road South, Kortright Road West and Gordon Street are the main streets.

Preservation Park covers about 18.4 hectares of woods and trails, at 266 Kortright Road West. Hartsland Park, at 161 Rickson Avenue, has a playground. Rickson Ridge Public School is in the neighbourhood. The Scottsdale and Westminster Square branches of the Guelph Public Library are each about 2 km away, and the South End Community Centre on Poppy Drive West, expected to open in fall 2026, is close by in Clairfields.
