Country Hills East, Kitchener

Country Hills East is compact and close to everything. In the morning, you hear the ION trains pulling into Block Line station and see people crossing the street to catch them. Inside the Activa Sportsplex, skates scrape across the ice from early morning, and the natural area behind the arena offers a quiet walk among the trees. The Country Hills Library and St. Mary's High School share a campus on Block Line Road. Paths along the Balzer–Manitou Trail and the Fallowfield natural area lead off between the homes.

The City's 2021 estimates count about 1,100 homes in the Country Hills East planning community. Apartment buildings of five storeys or more make up just under half. Row houses and single detached houses each make up about a quarter. In the 2021 census, about half the homes in the surrounding area were built after 2001, including about a quarter between 2011 and 2015. About three in ten were built between 1961 and 1980.

Block Line ION station is about 0.7 km from the centre of the community, and Fairway station about 1.9 km. Grand River Transit's 201 Fischer-Hallman iXpress and 26 Trillium route both run via Block Line. Block Line Road runs through the area. The Laurentian Power Centre and Fairview Park Mall are each about 2.1 to 2.2 km away.

The Activa Sportsplex, at 135 Lennox Lewis Way, is about 0.8 km away, beside a 6-hectare natural area. Fallowfield Park and the Fallowfield natural area are within the community, and the Balzer–Manitou Trail runs nearby. The Country Hills Library, at 1500 Block Line Road, is about 0.5 km away. The Vanier Park splash pad is about 0.8 km away. Country Hills Park, with its toboggan hill, is a short walk west. The Wilson Park outdoor pool is about 1.4 km away. McLennan Park, with its bike park and leash-free dog park, is about 1.7 km away. The Steckle Heritage Homestead is about 1.9 km away.
