What it's like

Life here revolves around beautiful Southside Park, where summer means an afternoon at the aquatic centre and every season has its walkers circling the pond. The streets around it are friendly, comfortable, and never more than a short stroll from the green.

The homes

The 2021 census counts about 500 homes in Southside. About two in three are single detached houses, and about one in nine are semi-detached. Almost half were built in 1960 or earlier, and about three in ten between 1961 and 1980.

Getting around

Woodstock Transit's 7 South Central route runs along Finkle Street, Spencer Street and Hay Street, and the 5 Southeast along Henry Street; the 6 Southwest runs on Mill Street at the west edge. The transit terminal downtown is about 1.2 km away. Parkinson Road, Mill Street, Henry Street, Finkle Street and Victoria Street South are the main streets.

Parks and daily life

Southside Park is Woodstock's largest park, opened in 1909, with gardens, a bandshell, a boathouse pavilion, sports fields, a skate park and walking paths. The Southside Aquatic Centre is on Finkle Street, and McIntosh Park, Argyle Park and a leash-free dog park on Henry Street add more.
