Cambrian Hills, Cambridge

Cambrian Hills is a quiet neighbourhood of 1970s and 1980s homes in south Hespeler, between the village and Highway 401. Woodland Park, about six hectares, brings shady paths and open lawns to the middle of the neighbourhood. Winston Boulevard Park and its woodlot add more green space, where the leaves crunch underfoot in October. Hespeler Public School, on Winston Boulevard, is a short walk from most streets. The village core is only a few minutes north.

The 2021 census counted about 1,950 homes in Cambrian Hills. About four in five are single detached houses. Apartment buildings of five storeys or more make up about one in eleven, and semi-detached houses about one in fourteen. About two in five homes were built between 1981 and 1990, and about a third between 1961 and 1980.

Grand River Transit's 51 Hespeler route and the 203 Maple Grove route serve the neighbourhood. The Pinebush stop on the 302 ION Bus, which runs to Fairway ION station in Kitchener, is about 2.7 km away. Stage 2 ION, which the Region has approved and is now designing, plans a Pinebush station about 2.7 km away. Winston Boulevard and Jamieson Parkway are the main streets, and Highway 401 runs along the south side, with interchanges at Hespeler Road (exit 282) and Franklin Boulevard (exit 284).

Woodland Park covers about 6 hectares, and Winston Boulevard Park about 2.5 hectares, with a playground. The neighbourhood has a ball diamond and a soccer field. Hespeler Public School, on Winston Boulevard, is in the neighbourhood. The Hespeler branch of the Cambridge Public Library is about 1.2 km away.

• Centennial Public School — JK to Grade 6. The public school for the western streets, including Thomas Street and Randall Drive.
• Jacob Hespeler Secondary School — Grades 9 to 12. The public secondary school.
• St. Elizabeth Catholic School — JK to Grade 8. The nearest Catholic elementary school, about 1.0 km away.
• St. Benedict Catholic Secondary School — Grades 9 to 12. The nearest Catholic secondary school, about 3.2 km away.
