Langs Farm, Cambridge

Langs Farm is a lively neighbourhood between Preston and Hespeler Road, built on what was once farmland. The Langs community hub on Concession Road is its meeting place, and Coronation, Blue Heron and William G. Davis public schools sit within a few blocks of one another. Studiman Park, on Trico Drive, and Brent Park, on Michael Crescent, have playgrounds and open lawns. The Groff Mill Creek corridor runs a strip of green through the streets. The shops of Hespeler Road and the Cambridge Centre mall are close by.

The 2021 census counted about 2,150 homes in the area that takes in most of Langs Farm. About two in three are single detached houses, row houses make up about one in eight and semi-detached houses about one in eleven. Nearly two in five homes were built between 1961 and 1980, and about one in six in 1960 or earlier. About one in six were built between 1991 and 2000, and about one in seven between 2001 and 2005.

Grand River Transit's 50 Dundas-Myers, 56 Langs and 61 Preston routes and the 206 Coronation iXpress serve the neighbourhood. The Cambridge Centre Mall stop on the 302 ION Bus, which runs to Fairway ION station in Kitchener, is about 1.0 km away. Stage 2 ION, which the Region has approved and is now designing, plans a Cambridge Centre Mall station about 0.9 km away. Hespeler Road runs along the east side to Highway 401, and Concession Road, Langs Drive and Trico Drive are the main streets.

Studiman Park, at 630 Trico Drive, covers about 2.2 hectares, and Brent Park, at 1315 Michael Crescent, and Dyck Park, at 655 Hopewell Road, both have playgrounds. The Grand Valley Linear Park and the Groff Mill Creek corridor add green space, and the neighbourhood has ball diamonds, soccer fields and a basketball court. The trails of Dumfries Conservation Area are close by, at Dunbar and Hespeler roads. The Langs community hub is at 1145 Concession Road. Coronation, Blue Heron and William G. Davis public schools are all in the neighbourhood. The Preston branch of the Cambridge Public Library is about 2.3 km away.

• William G. Davis Public School — Grades 7 and 8. The middle school for Langs Farm, on Langs Drive.
• Preston High School — Grades 9 to 12. The public secondary school.
• St. Michael Catholic School — JK to Grade 8. The nearest Catholic elementary school, about 1.0 km away.
• St. Benedict Catholic Secondary School — Grades 9 to 12. The nearest Catholic secondary school, about 2.8 km away.
