What it's like

Silverheights sits on the north-west side of Hespeler, between the village and the woods of the Speed River valley. Silverheights Park, about 12 hectares, spreads ball diamonds and open lawns through the neighbourhood, and on summer evenings the crack of the bat carries across the fields. Victoria Park, on Fisher Mills Road, floods an outdoor rink in winter. Just beyond the streets, the Chilligo Conservation Area offers woodland, meadows and marsh, where the Mill Run Trail begins its walk along the river. It is a green, peaceful place to come home to.

The homes

The 2021 census counted about 1,000 homes in Silverheights. About two in three are single detached houses, and semi-detached houses make up nearly a quarter. About two in five homes were built between 1961 and 1980, about a third between 1981 and 1990 and about one in five between 1991 and 2000.

Getting around

Grand River Transit's 51 Hespeler route and the 203 Maple Grove route serve the neighbourhood. Stage 2 ION, which the Region has approved and is now designing, plans a Pinebush station about 3.5 km away. Fisher Mills Road and Scott Road are the main streets, and Highway 401 is reached by Hespeler Road (exit 282). The Mill Run Trail runs south to Riverside Park.
