Northview, Cambridge

Northview spreads across the high ground of North Galt, east of Hespeler Road. From Northview Heights Lookout Park, on Elgin Street North, the view opens across the rooftops toward the Grand River valley, and on clear evenings the sunset lights the whole sky. The Greenway winds through the neighbourhood with Greenway Park at its centre, and children's voices carry from the playgrounds on summer afternoons. The Bishop Street Natural Area adds a stretch of woods and trails. The Cambridge Centre mall and the shops of Hespeler Road are a short walk away.

The 2021 census counted about 2,750 homes in Northview. About two in five are single detached houses, and semi-detached houses make up nearly three in ten. Row houses make up about one in five. About two in five homes were built between 1961 and 1980, nearly a quarter between 1981 and 1990, and about one in six between 1991 and 2000.

The Can-Amera and Cambridge Centre Mall stops on the 302 ION Bus, which runs to Fairway ION station in Kitchener, are in the neighbourhood. Stage 2 ION, which the Region has approved and is now designing, plans Can-Amera and Cambridge Centre Mall stations here too, about 0.8 km from the centre. Grand River Transit's 50, 51, 53, 56, 58, 60, 61, 65 and 67 routes and the 203 Maple Grove route also serve the area. Hespeler Road runs along the west side to Highway 401, and Elgin Street North and Bishop Street North are the other main roads.

Northview Heights Lookout Park, at 821 Elgin Street North, covers about 7 hectares, with a playground. Greenway Park, on Glamis Road, Gail Street Park, at 120 Gail Street, and Clochmohr Park also have green space, and the Bishop Street Natural Area covers about 18 hectares. The neighbourhood has mini soccer fields, ball diamonds and basketball courts. Avenue Road Public School, Elgin Street Public School and Christ the King Catholic School are in the neighbourhood. The Cambridge Centre mall, at 355 Hespeler Road, is about 0.7 km away, and the Clemens Mill branch of the Cambridge Public Library about 1.0 km.

• Elgin Street Public School — JK to Grade 6. The public school for the northern streets, including The Greenway and Lena Crescent, with French immersion from Grade 2.
• William G. Davis Public School — Grades 7 and 8. The middle school for the streets north of Bishop Street, including Cowansview Road.
• Galt Collegiate Institute — Grades 9 to 12. The public secondary school for most of Northview, with French immersion and extended French.
• Preston High School — Grades 9 to 12. The public secondary school for the streets north of Bishop Street.
• Christ the King Catholic School — JK to Grade 8. The Catholic elementary school on Acorn Way, in the neighbourhood.
• St. Benedict Catholic Secondary School — Grades 9 to 12. The nearest Catholic secondary school, about 1.0 km away.
