Glenview, Cambridge

Glenview climbs the east side of the Grand River valley just south of Downtown Galt. Its streets of older brick homes, like Stewart Avenue and Chalmers Street, are shaded by maples that glow red and orange in the fall. On hot afternoons, the John Dolson pool on South Street fills with swimmers. Lincoln Park has an outdoor rink in winter and a playground in summer. To the east, the long green corridor of Moffatt Creek Park and its trail offer an easy walk from home.

The 2021 census counted about 3,000 homes in Glenview. About half are single detached houses. Apartment buildings under five storeys make up about one in five, and taller apartment buildings about one in eight. Row houses make up about one in ten. About two in five homes were built in 1960 or earlier, and nearly two in five between 1961 and 1980.

Grand River Transit's 50 Dundas-Myers, 53 Franklin, 55 Grand Ridge and 63 Champlain routes and the 206 Coronation iXpress serve the neighbourhood. Ainslie Street Terminal, with the 302 ION Bus to Fairway ION station in Kitchener, is about 1.2 km away. The planned Cambridge Terminus station on Stage 2 ION, which the Region has approved and is now designing, is about 1.2 km away. Water Street South and Dundas Street South are the main roads. The Cambridge to Paris Rail Trail starts at the Water Street South trailhead.

Lincoln Park, at 65 Centre Street, covers about 3 hectares, with a playground, an outdoor rink and sports courts. The John Dolson outdoor pool is at 212 South Street. Moffatt Creek Park, about 73 hectares, and the Moffat Creek Trail run along the east side. Percy Hill and the Water Street South boat launch on the Grand River add green space. Glenview Park Secondary School, Stewart Avenue Public School and Chalmers Street Public School are in the neighbourhood. Churchill Park is about 0.8 km away, and the Queen's Square branch of the Cambridge Public Library about 1.6 km.
