Lincoln Oaks, Cambridge

Lincoln Oaks is an established neighbourhood on the east side of Galt, where tall oaks and maples shade streets of older homes. Soper Park is its centrepiece, with tennis courts, a disc golf course and the Kinsmen Soper Park pool, where summer afternoons are full of splashing. In winter, the Galt Arena Gardens hums with skates on the ice. The Mill Creek Trail winds along the creek valley nearby. Downtown Galt is a short walk west down Main Street.

The 2021 census counted about 1,800 homes in Lincoln Oaks. Just over half are single detached houses. Apartment buildings under five storeys make up about one in five, semi-detached houses about one in nine and duplexes about one in twelve. About six in ten homes were built in 1960 or earlier, and about a quarter between 1961 and 1980.

Grand River Transit's 50 Dundas-Myers, 53 Franklin, 58 Elgin North and 63 Champlain routes and the 206 Coronation iXpress serve the neighbourhood. Ainslie Street Terminal, with the 302 ION Bus to Fairway ION station in Kitchener, is about 1.4 km away. The planned Cambridge Terminus station on Stage 2 ION, which the Region has approved and is now designing, is about 1.2 km away. Main Street, Elgin Street North and Lincoln Avenue are the main streets. The Mill Creek Trail runs nearby.

Soper Park covers about 15 hectares, with a playground, four tennis courts, ball diamonds, a basketball court, a disc golf course and the Kinsmen Soper Park outdoor pool at 41 Marion Way. The Galt Arena Gardens has an indoor rink. Vardon Park has a playground. St. Anne Catholic School, on Elgin Street North, is in the neighbourhood. The Queen's Square branch of the Cambridge Public Library is about 1.6 km away.

• Moffat Creek Public School — JK to Grade 8. The public school for the eastern streets, including Alison Avenue and Linnwood Avenue, with French immersion from Grade 2.
• Stewart Avenue Public School — Grades 7 and 8. The middle school for the Central Public School streets.
• Glenview Park Secondary School — Grades 9 to 12. The public secondary school.
• St. Anne Catholic School — JK to Grade 8. The Catholic elementary school on Elgin Street North, in the neighbourhood.
• Monsignor Doyle Catholic Secondary School — Grades 9 to 12. The nearest Catholic secondary school, about 2.8 km away.
