Riverview, Cambridge

Riverview runs along the east bank of the Grand River, from the busy Delta at Hespeler Road and Coronation Boulevard down to the river flats near Galt Collegiate Institute. The school's grounds, on a site used for teaching since 1853, look out over the water. Quiet streets like Roseview Avenue and Isherwood Avenue lie between the main roads, with mature trees and front porches. Dan Spring Way and the Mill Creek Trail offer shaded walks. Downtown Galt is a short walk south.

The 2021 census counts Riverview together with the southern edge of Langs Farm, and the two had about 1,850 homes. About a third are single detached houses. Apartment buildings under five storeys and apartment buildings of five storeys or more each make up about one in six, and row houses about one in six. Nearly half the homes were built in 1960 or earlier, and about one in five between 1961 and 1980.

The Delta stop on the 302 ION Bus, which runs to Fairway ION station in Kitchener, is in the neighbourhood. Stage 2 ION, which the Region has approved and is now designing, plans a Delta station about 0.7 km away. Grand River Transit's 50 Dundas-Myers, 51 Hespeler and 58 Elgin North routes and the 206 Coronation iXpress also serve the area. Hespeler Road, Coronation Boulevard and Dundas Street North are the main roads, and Hespeler Road leads north to Highway 401.

Dan Spring Way and the Mill Creek Trail are green walking corridors of about 2.5 hectares each, and Isherwood Park adds a small playground. The neighbourhood has two soccer fields. Dumfries Conservation Area, at Dunbar and Hespeler roads, has forest, wetland and trails. Galt Collegiate Institute and Manchester Public School are in the neighbourhood. The Cambridge Centre mall, on Hespeler Road, is about 1.5 km away, and the Queen's Square branch of the Cambridge Public Library about 2.3 km.

• Avenue Road Public School — JK to Grade 8. The public school for the eastern streets, including Isherwood Avenue and Jaffray Street, and the middle school for the rest of Riverview.
• Galt Collegiate Institute — Grades 9 to 12. The public secondary school, on Water Street North, in the neighbourhood, with French immersion and extended French.
• St. Peter Catholic School — JK to Grade 8. The nearest Catholic elementary school, about 1.2 km away, with French immersion from Grade 1.
• St. Benedict Catholic Secondary School — Grades 9 to 12. The nearest Catholic secondary school, about 2.5 km away.
