Country Squire, Waterloo

Country Squire is a small enclave of estate homes on Country Squire Road, Squire Court and Charing Cross, close to the Grand River. Long driveways and tall trees give the streets a quiet, spacious feel. At the end of Grand River Drive, the strip of green at Grand River Park leads toward the water. The Grand River, which has sustained Indigenous peoples and settlers for centuries, is a designated Canadian Heritage River. The Grey Silo Golf Course is less than a kilometre away.

Country Squire forms part of the City's Rural East / Country Squire planning district. The City's 2021 census profile counts about 530 homes in that district. Just over half are single detached houses. Row houses make up nearly a quarter, and apartment buildings of five storeys or more about one in seven. In the 2021 census, homes in the surrounding area were built over several decades: about three in ten between 2016 and 2021, about one in five between 2001 and 2005, about one in six between 1991 and 2000, and about one in eight between 1981 and 1990.

Grand River Transit's 202 University iXpress runs about 2 km away, and the 31 Columbia route about 2.5 km. Conestoga ION station is about 4.9 km away, and Conestoga Mall about 4.8 km. The Eastside Branch of the Waterloo Public Library, at RIM Park, is about 1.8 km away.

Grand River Park, at 20 Grand River Drive, is a 1.9-hectare green corridor along the river side of the neighbourhood. The City recognizes the Grand River corridor as a cultural heritage landscape. The Grey Silo Golf Course is about 0.9 km away. RIM Park, about 1.2 km away, has about 7 km of paved trails along the river and through its fields, and its Manulife Sportsplex has four ice pads and two gymnasiums. The Elam Martin Farmstead, a Mennonite farm founded in 1820, sits beside the golf course.
