Uptown North, Waterloo

Uptown North sits between King Street and Weber Street, a few minutes north of the Uptown core. Turn off Weber Street and the side streets grow calm, lined with houses and mature trees. The Black Willow Link carries a green path through the neighbourhood off Bridgeport Road East. Brighton Park, on Brighton Street, keeps a playground close to home. Across King Street, the Wilfrid Laurier University campus is a short walk away, and Uptown's cafés are about ten minutes south on foot.

Uptown North forms part of the City's Central planning district. The City's 2021 census profile counts about 6,100 homes in that district. About half are in apartment buildings of five storeys or more, about one in five in apartment buildings under five storeys, and about one in five are single detached houses. In the 2021 census, about three in ten homes in the surrounding area were built between 1961 and 1980, about one in five in 1960 or earlier, and about three in ten after 2001.

Waterloo Public Square ION station is about 0.9 km away. Grand River Transit's 5 Erb, 7 King, 8 Weber, 16 Strasburg-Belmont and 29 Keats-University routes run nearby, along with the 202 University iXpress. Weber Street and King Street run along the neighbourhood's sides. Wilfrid Laurier University is about 0.7 km away.

Brighton Park, at 135 Brighton Street, has a playground. The Black Willow Link covers about 1.1 hectares off Bridgeport Road East, and the Peppler Trail runs near Erb and Peppler streets. The Moses Springer Community Centre, with an arena, an outdoor pool and a playground, is about 0.7 km away. The Main Library is about 0.8 km away, and the Uptown Public Square about 0.9 km. Waterloo Park is about 1.2 km away. The Uptown North Neighbourhood Association serves the area.
