What it's like
At the heart of Sugarbush, the trails of Sugarbush Park wind through more than nine hectares of woods off Weber Street North. Sandowne Park, on Sandowne Drive, opens up a wide lawn and a playground between the houses. Quiet Place Park, a small wooded pocket off Quiet Place, is as peaceful as its name. On cool mornings, runners circle the track at St. David Catholic Secondary School on High Street. The Albert McCormick Community Centre is about a kilometre away.
The homes
Sugarbush forms part of the City's Columbia planning district, which also takes in Northdale. The City's 2021 census profile counts about 6,400 homes in that district. More than three in five are in apartment buildings of five storeys or more, and about one in five in apartment buildings under five storeys. Row houses and single detached houses make up most of the rest. In the 2021 census, about two in five homes in the surrounding area were built between 1961 and 1980, about one in seven between 2016 and 2021, and about one in eight between 1981 and 1990.
