Clair Hills, Waterloo

Many Clair Hills streets are named for Swiss and German towns, from Interlaken Drive and Lucerne Avenue to Zermatt Drive and Klosters Drive. Around the Rhineland pond off Columbia Street West, a path circles more than 11 hectares of open water and reeds. Clair Woods, off Erbsville Road, offers five and a half hectares of shade on a summer afternoon. At St. Moritz Park, the playing field and tennis court sit at the centre of the neighbourhood.

The City's 2021 census profile counts about 1,850 homes in the Clair Hills planning district. More than four in five are single detached houses, and row houses make up about one in eight. In the 2021 census, more than nine in ten homes in the surrounding area were built after 2001: about two in five between 2001 and 2005, and about one in five between 2016 and 2021.

Grand River Transit's 31 Columbia route runs nearby, and the 13 Laurelwood and 29 Keats-University routes and the 202 University iXpress run within about a kilometre. University of Waterloo ION station is about 4.0 km away. Erbsville Road and Columbia Street West are the main roads. The Boardwalk shopping centre is about 2.3 km away.

St. Moritz Park, at 506 St. Moritz Avenue, covers about 3.7 hectares, with a tennis court, a playing field and an outdoor rink, and the St. Moritz Reserve sits beside it. Clair Woods, at 175 Erbsville Road, is a 5.6-hectare natural area. The Rhineland stormwater pond, at 575 Columbia Street West, covers about 11 hectares. Orchard Park, Interlaken Park, Lausanne Park, Lucerne Park, Klosters Park and the Bonn parks are small neighbourhood parks, most with playgrounds. The Forested Hills are about 1.8 km away, and the John M. Harper Branch of the Waterloo Public Library about 2.6 km.
