What it's like
Conservation Meadows sits right beside Laurel Creek Conservation Area, and several of its streets share their names with Ontario parks and places: Wasaga Crescent, Rideau River Street, Pinery Trail and Sandbanks Crescent. On summer nights, the smell of campfires drifts over from the conservation area's campground. The Stamm Woodlot, more than 14 hectares of forest off Sandbanks Crescent, spreads a closed canopy of trees beside the houses. Conservation Meadows Park, on Coldstream Drive, gathers a playing field, a playground and a winter rink in one green space.
The homes
Conservation Meadows forms part of the City's Conservation planning district, which also takes in Beaver Creek Meadows and Erbsville. The City's 2021 census profile counts about 1,050 homes in that district. About seven in ten are single detached houses. Row houses and semi-detached houses each make up about one in ten, and other dwelling types most of the rest. In the 2021 census, nearly two in five homes in the surrounding area were built between 1991 and 2000, about three in ten between 2001 and 2005, and about one in seven between 2006 and 2010.
